“Although I’ve never seen it, the setting for the court scenes is the old Supreme Court Building of Christchurch. I imagine it as a very magisterial space with lots of wooden paneling, heavy draperies behind the judge’s seat, and a grand entry area. I never saw the historic court building because it was demolished in 1980, as so many of Christchurch’s beautiful old buildings have been. It’s very sad because it was really beautiful and just a little scary!”
